Good class today. We took super-short notes on section 6.4 (Multiplying Improper Fractions) and so far it looks like everyone is having a pretty decent time with those (remember to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions first!). The assignment was p. 220-221 #4-6 and 8-15 We also assigned our "Two-bike race" problem. You need to attempt this question for next class. Remember there is no "right' answer. What we are looking for is your thought process. Next day we will compare times and see who found the fastest route. Good luck! A link to the problem: http://www.peterliljedahl.com/teachers/numeracy-tasks (look for the two bike race problem under middle school) Fun class today everyone.
We looked at multiplying fractions today. We also played a few rounds of "Flippin' Fractions", congrats to those who scored the most points. The homework was p. 214 #3-14 (don't need to estimate or graph, just solve the problems) Hey there math 8s!
I hope you had a relaxing weekend and you're ready to continue with Chapter 6 (don't worry, I haven't forgotten about chapter 4 and 5). Today we'll be looking at dividing fractions by whole numbers using a number line. Unfortunately this is quite the process. Once we've mastered this we'll go over the "shortcut" method in a later section. Homework: Hey Math Crew,
